Removing a quarter of the roadmap before writing any code

Challenge
<p>Northwind arrived with a signed-off roadmap of twenty-two features for a patient scheduling portal and a fixed launch date.</p>
Solution
<p>We ran a two-week discovery: shadowing clinic staff, mapping the actual booking journey, and testing paper prototypes with patients.</p><p>Two features accounted for most of the projected build time and neither survived contact with a real user.</p>
Results
<p>Six features were cut before development started and three were merged. The portal launched on the original date with the scope that mattered, and the discovery cost less than the smallest feature it removed.</p>
